Today, we are introducing you to "Priscilla Baldwin"
Share info about you, where you are from originally and where you are now, and what you do? My name is Priscilla Baldwin. I am the CEO/Administrator of Life Care Companions of Northwest Florida, divorced mother of six adult children and six grandchildren. I am originally from Pensacola, Florida, and left when I got married then arrived back when I got my divorce, lol.
What have you overcome? Share a little about your topic.
I overcame being a single mother with six children with little co-parenting from my husband. I had low- self-esteem, I didn’t know my worth or wasn’t regarded by people or myself to tell the truth. I always thought I wasn’t worthy of much. Other people’s opinion of me in my mind was correct and it mattered to me (people pleaser). I had imposter syndrome at the time and I didn’t know what that was. I would get compliments and acknowledgement of my work or the services that I provided to my clients, and I would wonder who they were talking about. I had no concept that they were talking about me, and I downplayed it every time.
How did you know you needed to change?
I knew that I needed to change because of my children. They were getting older, and I didn’t want to continue this spiral journey that I was on. My sons, and daughters needed to know that I was trying to better my situation and myself. I wanted them to have self-esteem, to know their worth, and it wasn’t dependent on another individual just them. I wanted them to accept a compliment and not downplay it. That working hard to achieve something was worth something, and an acknowledgment was great that someone saw your efforts, and it’s okay to live in the moment. I wanted them to know that other people's opinions of them doesn’t matter if your opinion of yourself is greater. I didn’t want to leave a legacy of brokenness, or them not regarding themselves
What steps did you take to implement change?
I started on my healing journey to heal the brokenness within me, to regard myself as well as others this is a continual journey. I’ve implemented continued education in workshops regarding my mental health, well-being physically, emotionally and spiritually. I reach out to others that are experiencing these same issues to let them know there is hope.
I believe that you are here for a purpose and through your trials of life it’s to get you to a greater belief in yourself that hard things will become easier with confidence in yourself.
