Honoring Parents

In this day and age, we see many children dishonoring their parents. The TV shows, movies, music all have many shows/words that have children dishonoring parents, disrespecting parents; in the stores, you see children disrespecting and dishonoring their parents, etc.

How do we turn this around?

How do children learn to honor their parents?

God’s Holy Word, the Bible, speaks about children honoring their parents in Ephesians 6:1-3. Verse one says, children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. Verse two says “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise. Verse three says, if you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you and you will have a long life on earth.”

These three versus need to be taught at a young age so children can learn at a young age to honor their parents and will grow up honoring their parents. For children that are already grown up, I advise to still teach them to honor their parents, it’s never too late to begin anew and change to be on the right path.

Take God at His Word, His Word works. Children, honor and obey your parents, remembering the promises that come with it, things go well with you and you have long life.
