Special Guest: LaShundra Richmond

Today, we are introducing you to "LaShundra Richmond"

Share info about you, where you are from originally and where you are now, and what you do?

I am originally from Memphis, TN and currently reside in San Diego, CA. I am an Educator by trade and Minister by calling. I am the Founder of the Destiny House, which is a non-profit organization based out of Memphis, TN that works with students (ages14-24) by providing the tools and resources necessary to succeed in college, the military, or the workforce. I serve as the Director of Advancement at a K-12 Private School in Escondido, CA.

What have you overcome? Share a little about your topic.

Wow! I believe everyday is indeed an exciting adventure filled with challenge and triumph. What has helped me overcome and ultimately live victoriously has been my foundation of faith and the intentionality around remaining unapologetically authentic. My topic and mantra of my life is rooted in authenticity, faith and the daily pursuit of ‘birthing destiny.’

How did you know you needed to change?

Life has a way of teaching us. Missed opportunities, repeated patterns, unhealthy habits and conviction/encounters with God all were telling signs that I needed to “do something different; and be better/be whom God had designed and destined me to be.”

What steps did you take to implement change?

A hard self-evaluation, a lot of writing, getting in God’s word, re-committing to my faith and what I wanted for my life- and surrendering to God’s will for my life. With that came, changes in those unhealthy habits, lifestyle choices, etc.; a renewed relationship with God, a positive self-view and a determination to live (forreal) the best & peaceful life ever...

What encouraging words can you leave for the readers?

Wake up everyday with these two words; “keep going.” When life happens as it will; remember to “breathe.” And when you need a reminder as to why you were created in the first place, and people try to play you smaller than what you know you are - encourage yourself with this; “I birth destiny.”

What is your favorite quote?

“I Win!”

Provide the best ways to contact you.

Official bio.

Adopting 1 John 2:27 as her guiding scripture through life: “As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit -- just as it has taught you, remain in him,” accompanied by a personal motto of two short words: “I Win,” LaShundra has embarked upon a journey that has taken her to new heights, surprising depths, and a life full of unexpected twists and turns, that has single-handedly ushered her into what many may view as unbelievably inevitable, though she simply takes it all in and remember the words found in James 1:2, “to count it all joy.”

As a transformational Educational Leader, LaShundra is a highly-motivated and purposely driven Practitioner with a passionate commitment to student development and the learning experience; skilled in the design of challenging, enriching and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students; possess outstanding communication skills; presenting information in various facets, collaborating with team members and establishing productive & efficient relationships with students, parents, and all other stakeholders.

Before the Destiny House, LaShundra could be found in schools & classrooms, legislative hallways & urban communities as her combined passions for Education, Advocacy & Ministry claimed her time, efforts and energy in more direct roles and spaces. LaShundra has humbly and happily served in a variety of capacities that have afforded her a lens into the constant evolving educational landscape at the local, state and national levels and have spent years directly serving the Memphis and the Mid South region as an educator, community change agent, spiritual leader and voice.
