Today, we are introducing you to "Shontae Horton"

Share info about you, where you are from originally and where you are now, and what you do?

My name is Shontae Horton, I am from Newark, NJ. I currently live in Orange, Nj. I am an Infant Loss Grief Coach and Holistic Fertility Doula.

What have you overcome? Share a little about your topic.

I have overcome the heaviness of experiencing infant loss. In 2015, I lost my baby girl Naomi due to placental insufficiency. I was 24 weeks pregnant I had to have an emergency c-section due to a placenta rupture. My daughter lived for eight days and I was overwhelmed with grief. I did have my family members' support but I didn’t have therapy or a grief coach to guide me through this process.

How did you know you needed to change?

I knew I needed a change because I was missing some time with my living daughter and I needed to become whole again for her. I gave my grief to GOD, he’s the only one that could relieve this burden of grief off of me.

What steps did you take to implement change?

I asked my mom to take care of my living daughter while I grieved, I turned to GOD for relief, and I started journaling my thoughts, focusing on things to be grateful for, studying the bible, and getting back to things that made me happy. I decided to shift my focus on how good GOD is and being grateful that I got to experience an angel. Along with that mindset change, came healing.

What encouraging words can you leave for the readers?

Have faith and don’t give up. The process of grieving is extremely challenging, not only after the death of a loved one. For example, losing a job, relationships, businesses, or hope. You must stay faithful even if you cannot see how things will turn out. Do not let fears or failed projects discourage you. Take a break, but keep going.

What is your favorite quote?

Discovering your purpose is the most significant thing you will do in your life, and you, your loved ones, and the world will be better off because you went on this journey. Mastin Kipp, Claim Your Power.

Provide the best ways to contact you.
