Today, we are introducing you to "SGT. Tracey 'Laweziana' Ford"
Share info about you, where you are from originally and where you are now, and what you do?
My name is SGT. Tracey “Laweziana” Ford and I am a Retired US ARMY Veteran of 17 years. I am also a Wounded Warrior, Purple Heart Recipient, National Presenter of Dance, Choreographer for over 20 years, Curobiks Master Trainer for Music Recording Artist Cupid, and a Dance Fitness Instructor. I am originally from to New Orleans, Louisiana but currently residing in Dallas, Texas.
What have you overcome? Share a little about your topic?
In 2004, I was severely injured in Iraq in which I became permanently disabled. Doctors told me that I would never walk again. This was a devastating blow to me which over time has resulted in numerous surgeries and medical related complications. I have met many challenges in my life but through determination, strength, will-power, and faith in God, it has kept me going strong. After Iraq, I worked to overcome my own personal battles with PTSD and obesity. I have achieved dramatic weight loss results naturally through dancing and exercise. I have since dedicated myself to helping others reach their health and fitness goals by inspiring and motivating through my LOVE and PASSION for DANCE.
How did you know you needed to change?
The will to live motivated me to make a change in my life. I must keep myself well and healthy not only for me but for my very ill mother that I am caring for. She is the driving force that inspires me daily to keep going.
What steps did you take to implement change?
I took steps to implement change in my life by working hard, staying persistent, and focused on using dance exercise to help me overcome obesity and deal with the obstacles of PTSD. This has changed my life for the better and keeps me motivated every day.
What encouraging words can you leave for the readers?
“Never Give Up” are words that I use to encourage others. I’m trying to change people’s mindset and be their support system. I don’t want anyone to give up just because they have been diagnosed with a medical issue. Exercise has saved my life and this is what encouraged me to create Laweziana Dance Fitness. This has changed my life and I use it to do the same for other veterans and civilians.
